John Herron, Welcome to Glentoran

Tue, 28/08/2018 - 23:15

Glentoran is pleased to announce the signing of John Herron.

John is a Scottish U21 centre midfielder who previously played for Celtic, Blackpool, Dunfermline Athletic (loan) and Raith Rovers. John was recommended by Hibernian Manager and former Northern Ireland captain Neil Lennon who gave John a number of first team games at Celtic, and by former Dundee Manager Jim Duffy.

Ronnie McFall said after completing the signing following this evening's win over Larne: "I'm very pleased to have got John signed up. He has a very good pedigree having come right through the Academy and youth ranks at Celtic to make first team appearances for a good Celtic team under Neil Lennon. He had also played for Scotland at every level from U15 to U21. Clearly he was very highly rated in Scotland and at just 24 he's a great age to bring in with so many years' experience at full time level.

I'd like to thank the Chairman and Directors for working so hard this summer to support us in the recruitment we've had needed to make. They can often take the brunt of criticism when things aren't going well but the management team have all been very appreciative of the backing we've been given."

We are hoping John's international clearance will be though in time for him to available foer Saturday's away game with Glenavon.

Welcome to Glentoran John.
