Glentoran Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong supporter David ‘Davy’ McKnight, who passed away peacefully at home on Sunday 8th June, aged 93.
A shareholder, season ticket holder and long-standing member of the Stormont Glentoran Supporters’ Club, Davy was previously part of the renowned ‘Cougars’ GSC and followed the Glens faithfully across Northern Ireland and beyond for many decades.
Until recent ill health, he remained a regular on away-day buses and was a well-known and much-respected figure among supporters. His absence will be deeply felt at the BetMclean Oval and beyond.
We extend our sincere condolences to Davy’s wife Doreen, the wider family circle and his friends at this sad time.
Davy’s funeral service will take place at Kirkwoods Funeral Directors, King’s Road, Belfast at 9.00am on Friday 13th June, followed by committal at Roselawn at 10.00am.
