Academy Presentation

Thu, 08/10/2015 - 08:41

On Saturday, before our match versus Ballinamallard, season ticket holder and shareholder Colin Davidson presented Club Director Grahame Jenkins with a cheque for £550 for the Academy. Colin walked the 10miles from east Belfast to Taylor's Avenue Carrick a few weeks ago to raise money for Disability Sport and the Glentoran Academy.

Colin said, " I heard all about the Academy and their plans at the last AGM with shareholders and thought I wanted to help them. They have great plans to really help make a difference to hundreds of kids lives through the Academy programmes and I thought my walk could make a small difference."

Grahame said, " The Academy is so important to the future of the Club and we are delighted to get the support from Colin. To walk 10miles to watch the Glens shows dedication in itself but to raise money for two great causes is fantastic and on behalf of the Club I want to thank Colin and all those who have supported him in raising this amount of money.

The money will be put to good use. The Academy costs over £90k a year to run and without the support of our various sponsors and fundraisers and the huge dedication from all our voluntary coaches it would not be possible to keep the Academy going let alone be the best and most progressive Academy in the country"
