Collection for MNDA
The exhibition will be open in the fonaCAB Suite this Saturday from 1pm. Admission prices are £3 for adult and £1 for children. This is a great exhibition marking 50 years of Glentoran's European history. Definately a worth while event for any Glentoran fan.
Glentoran's Marcus Kane and John McGuigan have been called up to the standby list for Northern Ireland's Under 21 game against England in Blackpool on 13th November.
Glentoran paid the price for a poor first half performance today, losing 2-1 at Donegal Celtic.
Glentoran returned to winning ways last week against Glenavon to record our first league win in 4 matches. Despite the dip in form, we are still in the hunt at the top, only 6 points behind leaders Cliftonville in 5th place. The team news for tomorrow's match sees Elliot Morris return from suspension and is expected to replace Aaron Hogg in goal. Colin Nixon remains out after surgery last week and Andy Waterworth is doubtful to be fit in time for the game.
Donegal Celtic have informed us that there have been some alterations to the spectator areas of their ground. In essence Glentoran supporters will enter the ground at the turnstiles closest to the clubhouse and will be accommodated on the clubhouse side of the ground (the opposite side to where we had been accommodated at recent fixtures). There will be bar facilities available at halftime. Supporters should follow directions of stewards and allow a little extra time for accessing the ground.
With the short notice of DC vs Glentoran being all ticket, you can now purchase tickets online.
Tickets will cost £10 + £1 admin fee and only adult are avalible. When you purchase your ticket online you will collect it outside the ground on saturday.
Hopefully this makes it easier for fans wishing to go to the match but unable to make it down to the oval.
Tickets are still being sold at the following times
Supporters wishing to attend the Danske Bank Premiership fixture between Donegal Celtic and Glentoran, to be played at Suffolk Road on Saturday 27th October 2012 (kick-off 3pm) will require tickets.
The decision to ticket this fixture was taken late last week and tickets were only delivered to the Oval today. Can supporters clubs please contact the club secretary ( secretary@glentoran.com ) with their requirements as soon as possible please?
Pre-ordered 130th anniversary shirts are available for collection from the Glentoran Superstore. Could any supporter who pre-ordered a shirt and has not already collected it please do so as soon as possible?
Shirts not collected/paid in full before 31st October will be allocated to supporters on the waiting list.
Probably Glentoran's oldest surviving player, Bertie Wright today celebrated his 93rd birthday. Bertie, who lives in Laurelvale near Portadown, joined the Glens in the 1941-42 season and who, until his departure at the end of 1948-49, played 214 games for the club. Although he filled what would have been considered a defensive position, Bertie scored 47 goals, twice finishing as the club’s second highest scorer (seasons 42-43 and 44-45 both times with 13 goals). Wright won two trophies with the Glens, the Co Antrim Shield and the All-Ireland Cup, both in the 1943-44 season.
