As part of Glentoran Football Club's ongoing and serious commitment to foster links with the local area, the club is conducting a series of coaching sessions in primary schools in East Belfast and the surrounding area..

UEFA A Licence coach, Tim Wareing, leads the sessions. It kicked off on Tuesday at Cregagh Primary School in East Belfast. Tim coached 25 children from Primary Year 5 and 22 children from Primary Year 4.

Wednesday saw Tim deliver sessions at Braniel Primary Schoo, which he followed up at Knocknagoney Primary School on Thursday.

Tim said of the sessions:"‘It is essential we introduce children to living an active and healthy lifestyle from an early age. The benefit of sport not only brings people together and offers wonderful opportunities but improves each individuals overall fitness and wellbeing"

Glentoran Academy Manager, Stephen Lowry, commented: "Glentoran FC strongly believe that we have a social responsibility to connect with young children in our area. It helps them form a bond with their local senior football club while also delivering an important message about fitness and a healthy lifestyle at such an important period in their growth.

This programme would not be possible without funding from a Belfast City Council Everybody Active Grant. Thanks to the city council, the initial program operate for 10 weeks within these schools".
