Big Saturday as Glens & Burnley support Alzheimer's UK

Tue, 17/05/2022 - 13:08

This Saturday (21st May) the historic relationship between Glentoran and Burnley Football Club takes on a new face as we link up with Burnley FC in the Community to support Alzheimer’s UK,

All of the Glentoran Family are welcome at the Bet McLean Oval to join in a 5K Walk / Run / Cycle challenge in honour of Glentoran, Burnley and Northern Ireland legend Jimmy McIlroy, ending with a celebration at The Oval.

Following the 5K, we will be welcoming two Burnley FC employees who will have cycled from Turf Moor via Holyhead, Dublin and up to Belfast to raise funds for Alzheimer's UK. Jimmy McIlroy lived with dementia in his later life before his passing in 2018. Jimmy started his career with Glentoran Football Club and our club will be the destination for the cycle, where the two Burnley officials will be welcomed upon arrival at The Bet McLean Oval.

The 5K will take place along the Connswater Greenway starting/ending at The Bet McLean Oval and is a great event for the entire family,
