Warrenpoint Town U20 1-5 Glentoran U20

Mon, 23/09/2019 - 23:58

Glentoran produced a stunning second half display at Milltown today that blew Warrenpoint away in what was a very accomplished display from the very young Glens team. containing only two players with any first team experience.

16 year old Matty Lusty opened the scoring as he fired into the roof of the net after Seamus Duffy bravely challenged the keeper. That goal came ten minutes into the game after a superb start from the visitors but the Glens took the foot off the pedal and Warrenpoint grew into the game, eventually equalising ten minutes from the break. This woke Glentoran back up again and Matty Lusty almost doubled his tally as he forced a good save from the Point keeper. Just a minute later our returning Captain Sean Gallagher headed home Glentoran's second in his first competitive game of the season.

The second half was a joy to watch as Glentoran really clicked and ran in three great goals. Duffy set up Beni Magee for 3-1 before Gallagher found Lusty on the right whose cross was turned in by Eoin Brown for 4-1. Benji Magee grabbed his second and Glentoran's fifth from another Duffy pass to finish the scoring for the afternoon. Caolan McBride went close to adding to Glentoran's tally on a couple of occasions but his best efforts were well blocked by Point defenders and so it finished 5-1. Bailey Hoy proved to be a rock at the back on the day for Glentoran earning him the man of the match award for the game. Warrenpoint 1-5 Glentoran
