More glory for Glens Academy teams

Mon, 14/05/2018 - 20:42

Glentoran Academy had another very triumphant weekend with three more trophies won.

The Under 14 team (pictured above) won the League Cup on Saturday, beating Linfield 5-1 in the final to seal a memorable treble for the second season in a row. The goals flowed against the Blues for the second time in a week as Callum Marshall and Charlie Lindsay were again on the score sheet with two 2 each. Elliott Wood was the other scorer on a day where Charlie Lindsay again grabbed the Man of the Match awards from the tournament organisers for an amazing 5th final in a row.

Under 12 team

Glentoran U12s made up for the disappointment of their NIBFA Cup Final def. eat by hitting Maiden City for four in Cookstown in the National League Cup Final. The goals came from Jay Harvey, Rhys Walsh, Jack McCosh and Jack Hastings.

Under 18 team

Our Under 18 squad also completed the League and League Cup Double in Cookstown as Cricky Conn signed off on his Glentoran career before heading off to Burnley with a blistering hat trick and a Man of the match award.
Cricky scored a penalty, free kick and a smashing volley to add to Barry Baggley's free kick as the Glens came from 1-0 down to beat Linfield 4-1 in the final

2005 squad

The 2005 squad also reached the Plate Final at their age group but on this occasion were beaten by Glenavon. Well done to the lads for reaching the last stage.
