Glens Ladies Bring The Cup Home.

Mon, 04/09/2017 - 21:16

Prior to Saturday's home match v Warrenpoint Town, the club was delighted to wwlcome a number of players and the management of the triumphant Glentoran Belfast United squad to celebrate their recent triumph in the final of the Toals Women's Challenge Cup. This trophy completed a full set for the Glens girls as this was the one trophy they hadn't previously won.

General Manager Billy Clarke, Head Coach Glenn Floyd, Coaches Julie Alexander and Judith Reid and eight of the victorious players - led by captain Jessica Foy - were welcomed to the Oval Boardroom by the Board of Directors then performed a lap of honour on the pitch with their trophy. They received a much deserved great reception from the supporters in the stand and on the terrace.

The Challenge Cup victory was one of two major trophy wins for Glentoran BU teams this season as the Under 19 team won their own championship. The U19 girls will be presented with their trophy later this month and will also be invited to celebrate with the supporters at the Oval.

Well done to Billy, his coaching staff and all the players who made the season such a memorable one for the Ladies teams.
