This week's Gazette

Fri, 17/01/2014 - 18:11

The 'Swinging Sixties' take over the Glentoran Gazette this week as we have two articles featuring that period and perhaps the most iconic era of our club's existence.

One of our most famous Number Ones, Albert Finlay is in the spotlight in Philip Stevenson's regular feature 'Playing for Keeps' talking about that amazing time at the Oval. As well as that, the footballing world mourned the loss of a true legend last week with the passing of Eusebio and in the Gazette, one fan who was there amongst the throng, Michael Wilson, looks back to the night the Black Panther prowled Mersey Street.

Away from the days of mop tops and winklepickers and back to the present day, new signing Curtis Allen gives an in-depth interview to Sam Braik, offering his hopes for the future at the Glens, and in an emotional piece on Scott Young, by Eddy Patrick, the former midfielder and manager remembers the good times - and there were many.

Juventus and Italy hero Marco Tardelli is the subject of Jake Proctor's latest 'World Class' feature and there's also your usual match action from the games against Portadown and Glenavon, the latest stats and a look at this week's visitors Coleraine.

As ever, Elliott Morris gives us his views on the past couple of weeks and Eddie Patterson has the latest news from inside the dressing room.

Always worth a read.
