Tonight's Gazette

Tue, 04/10/2022 - 12:38

In tonight’s night’s award-winning Glentoran Gazette, manager Mick McDermott tells us that the team started the game against Ballymena looking sharp and incisive and of his disappointment that a deluge caused the game to be abandoned as he felt before kick-off the pitch was in immaculate condition after recent work. Looking ahead to tonight’s game he warns that Warrenpoint have experienced and talented players who have done well at Premiership level, as well as an experienced backroom team that deserve to be treated with utmost respect. Gazette writers note that the ‘Point come into the game after a recent run of victories ended on Saturday with a draw at Ballyclare Comrades and with boss Barry Gray being dismissed from the touchline. There is also the possibility that former Glens favourite Jim O’Hanlon might be in the opposition squad after his return from Australia. Elsewhere we weigh in on the debate over teenage footballers making top tier debuts and put the spotlight on former Glens kids making a name for themselves at clubs in Britain. Meanwhile, one of our youngest squad members, Harry Murphy, answers our questions while Beth Stafford and Joe Burns turn to an old hand for their cover graphic. Tommy Sewell and Norman Ternahan, finally dried out after Friday’s soaking, bring their take on what little action we witnessed against Ballymena United. The £3 Gazette, once again deemed the league’s leading matchday programme, is by the fans for the fans.
