Glentoran FC held a short Remembrance Service prior to yesterday's match at the Oval. It was led by the Rev. David Thompson (Club Chaplain) and Glentoran officials, members of the Glentoran Academy and representatives from the Irish Guards also took part.

Prior to kick-off the players and spectators also observed a minute's silence.

A Remembrance Cross has also been placed in Pitt Park, Newtownards Road in memory of our former goalkeeper, Thomas Pearson. Pearson was the Glentoran custodian in the late '30's before joining the Irish Guards at the outbreak of WWII. He was awarded the Military Medal (see below) and was killed in action on 28th April 1943, aged 30.

Thomas Pearson is buried at the Oued Zarga War Cemetery in Tunisia
