Statement from Raven Glentoran Supporters’ Club
The Raven Glentoran Supporters Club are very saddened by the passing of our member, Eddie Smith (95) at the weekend.
Eddie was one of life's gentlemen, as the saying goes: he wouldn't pass you!
He was a lifelong Glenman, growing up in Elmfield Street off Bloomfield Avenue and followed the Glens from his early teens and until recently, still a fixture on the terrace at the Sydenham End. In his long life there was nothing he hadn't seen on the pitch, but even when things weren't going well, the most you ever got from him was a shake of the head, a roll of the eyes & a wry smile, but always a smile.
Eddie was also the senior member of four generations of his family to have membership of our supporters club, which he joined in the 1984/1985 season.
He will be sadly missed by all of us, & our thoughts are with son Billy, grandson William, great grandson Carlton & their families.
