NIFL has issued the following update on the condition of the match officials involved in the road accident on their way to our postponed match at Newry last night. Everone at Glentoran is delighted that the officials are now home with their families for Christmas.
Statement re: Referee Incident Friday 21 December
The NI Football League can provide an update on the status of the match officials involved in Friday night’s postponed match.
Due to a road traffic incident involving the match officials who were travelling together to officiate Newry City v Glentoran at the Newry Showgrounds, the NI Football League took the decision to postpone the Danske Bank Premiership fixture.
Three of the match officials were taken to hospital and underwent tests, however we are pleased to advise that all individuals have subsequently were discharged and have returned home to their families.
Our thoughts are with all the match officials and we wish them a speedy recovery.
