As part of ongoing discussions, representatives of Glentoran met with Paul Givan, Minister for Communities and his team, to present their plans for the new stadium under the (DCAL) Sub-Regional Stadia Programme for Soccer. The meeting was facilitated by local MLA's Robin Newton and Sammy Douglas and local East Belfast MP, Gavin Robinson. Both Gavin and Robin attended the meeting to give their support.
The Minister appreciated the opportunity to hear first-hand about our plans for the stadium as well as our desire to be part of the redevelopment of the greater East Belfast community. In response the Minister was enthusiastic that the funding for the scheme would be successfully delivered.
Glentoran would like to thank the Minister and his team for their positivity, time and input, and the local politicians from all political parties, for their whole-hearted support for Glentoran obtaining a new fit for purpose stadium for the club and for the East Belfast community.
