A week of big announcements on players committing their future to Glentoran concluded on Friday with Cup Final hero Robbie McDaid signing a contract extension with the club.
Since joing the club in August 2017, Robbie has won a real place in the hearts of the Glentoran support with his workrate, commitment and goals. He has proved to have the priceless knack of scoring important goals in big games when the team most needs them. That was shown at its finest over the past few weeks with a vital goal against Cliftonville in the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup semi final, the late injury time winner in the final against Ballymena United, and the winner over HB Torshavn in the Europa League Qualifying Round. The new contract was signed in the face of interest we know to have been shown from other Danske Bank Premiership clubs.
