Bet McLean Cup Quarter Final

Tomorrow evening we make our first competitive visit to Lakeview Park in five years to face Loughgall in the quarter final of the newly remained Bet McLean Cup.

The last time the sides met at Lakeview Park in this competition was August 2017. That night, Loughgall pushed Gary Haveron’s team all the way to extra time (after a scoreless 90 minutes) and it took a neat finish by midfielder John McGuigan to finally see off the Villagers and put us into the next round.

Loughgall have had a superb start to the Championship season, sitting seven points clear of second placed Dundela after just twelve games. They have won ten of those fixtures and racked up an impressive 33 goals, with just 5 conceded. Their most recent win came at Lakeview Park on Saturday, with a comprehensive 6-1 win against Ards, with ex Coleraine striker Nedas Maciulaitis bagging a second half hat trick.

Their journey to the League Cup Quarter Final has so far included a 5-0 home demolition of fellow Championship side Knockbreda and an impressive 2-1 win against Glenavon at Mourneview Park, where a late winner from ex Glenavon man Mark Patton saw Dean Smith’s side get the better of their Premiership opponents. As well as Patton and Maciulaitis , other members of the squad with extensive top flight experience include former Warrenpoint Town goalkeeper Berraat Turker and ex Portadown and Dungannon winger Ally Teggart.
