Match Preview: Glentoran v Ballymena United

Tue, 10/01/2023 - 00:42

Tuesday 10th January 2023

Kick Off 7.45pm

Tomorrow we host Ballymena United in the rearranged Danske Bank Premiership abandoned due to bad weather on 30th September 2022. United are currently in seventh place, nine points behind us, although we have a game in hand.

This one provides the Glens with a very early opportunity to reverse last week’s New Year defeat at the Showgrounds. A piece of good news is that Shay McCartan has now completed his seven-game suspension so will be available to face his former club.

United will be hoping for a better outcome than their two visits to the Oval last season, which both ended in heavy defeats. A Conor McMenamin hat trick last September helped condemn them to a 4-1 defeat, before an even worse outcome two months later, when a brace from Jay Donnelly and one each from McMenamin and Ben Cushnie secured a 4-0 outcome in favour of the home side. They come - like us – on the back of an Irish Cup round five victory but do so without towering centre back Conor Keeley who signed for Drogheda United following Saturday’s penalty kick win over Carrick.

Tickets for this game remain on sale HERE. All tickets bought for the original abandoned match remain valid.
