Alan Kernaghan will be looking to secure his first away win in charge as his side travel to Ferney Park tomorrow.

The new boss celebrated his first win at the helm since he joined last month after a 2-0 triumph against Glenavon at the Oval.

Kernaghan revealed he believes the club are “heading in the right direction” after tasting victory for the first time in three league attempts.

The former Republic of Ireland defender will now want to build upon last week’s victory by enjoying similar success against Ballinamallard United.

The Glens go into tomorrow’s game with boosted confidence as they boast a strong record at Ferney Park.  Spanning back from 2012, they are yet to suffer a league defeat.

However, the ducks collected their first ever win against the Glens at the Oval in the reverse fixture in October.  Johnny Courtney and Cathal Beacom were on the scoresheet to help seal their first Premiership win in nine games.

The victory proved to be a turning point for Whitey Anderson’s men as they picked up seven more points throughout October.  Despite losing once that month, the Mallards were unable to carry that form into November as they lost every game.

Meanwhile, the East Belfast side have gone from strength to strength since that loss, as they have only tasted defeat once, despite suffering a managerial casualty along the way.

Glentoran youngster Jonathan Smith will also be hoping continue his fine run of form ahead of tomorrow’s clash. The striker has netted in his previous two games, including the opener against the Lurgan Blues last week.

The Glens will be without defender William Garrett who is facing up to nine months out due to injury. Kym Nelson has resumed training but will need game time before returning to the squad. Stephen McAlorum may be back in contention for tomorrow’s fixture having missed out last weekend. Marcus Kane is another possible one who could return.
