Glentoran FC Academy join the NSPCC to promote parents’ role in football

Sat, 08/10/2016 - 10:58

As  Glentoran  Child Welfare Officer, I am proud to confirm on behalf of the club  that Glentoran FC Academy has joined forces with more than 100 sports organisations in the UK and Ireland to promote Parents in Sport Week which is running from 3 to 9 October.

Glentoran FC Academy are fully behind this initiative to raise awareness of the positive role a parent has in helping a child reach their full potential…it’s about having coachable kids and we recognise your support and influence is the foundation of this.

Our own academy players and some of the first team squad gave their views on the importance of parents in their football journey.

As part of the werk's events, our Academy will welcome Academy parents to the Oval today, October 8th, to receive the club and supporters' thanks for the ‘extra mile’ they travel every day of every week.

During the first team match vs Ballinamallard United,  KO 3pm, all Academy players will have the opportunity at half time to be out on the pitch and receive the applause and congratulations they deserve from fans and the senior Committee for their hard work, determination and success.  We have arranged one free entry per player for a parent/carer.

Please also look out for further information on our new Parents’ Group starting soon.  Your chance to get involved with the Academy!

I hope everyone enjoys the Family Day tomorrow at the Oval and as parents, know that you are valued, appreciated and supported by the Academy in the crucial role you have in helping your children enjoy football.

Kind Regards,

Lesley McPeak
