Glentoran Disability FC End of Season Review

Wed, 07/06/2017 - 23:16

Glentoran Disability FC was established in March 2016. In just 15 months the squad has grown to approximately 55 players. The squad caters for all ranges of disability from age 7 upwards.

Our senior sides play in an IFA League competition. We had the best preparation possible for it when we won the UK's largest disability tournament last June. The competition was contested by 72 teams, many of which were from English Premiership and Championship clubs.

We have been able to field upwards of three teams in the league structure In our first league season with one team finishing 2nd in the Premiership and another 2nd in the Championship.

Just this past week we won the IFA NI national indoor cup to round off a brilliant first season!

Our junior team played their first ever competitive match and on June 3rd this year, straight after our prize giving day at the Oval, we took part in an IFA tournament held at the National Stadium at Windsor Park.

In the next twelve months, we aim to go one better in the IFA premiership and Championship and retain the George Best cup. Off the field we want to grow in numbers and keep spreading the great name of Glentoran DFC all over the UK and Ireland.
