Glens U18s poised for Championship push

Fri, 04/05/2018 - 15:20

Glentoran under 18s stand 90 minutes away from sealing the club's first league win at this age group since the team of John McGuigan and Jim O'Hanlon triumphed at the same level.

The Glens play their final league game of the season tonight at Allen Park in Antrim with an 8pm kick off against West Belfast side St. Oliver Plunkett FC.

Plunkett sit second in the league, just a point behind the Glens, effectively rendering the game a play off for the title.

The Glens are in the dangerous, stick or twist scenario of knowing a point will be enough where as Plunkett must go all out for the victory in what is sure to be a thrilling contest between two very good sides.

Glentoran are unbeaten in the league so far with only a draw against Coleraine blotting the copy book of an otherwise 100% record so all credit to Plunkett for keeping pace and making this such a close race.

Plunkett themselves have only lost once, to Cliftonville and will be hoping to inflict the Glens first defeat this evening.

All at Glentoran FC want to wish the players and staff the very best of luck and hope that the boys can land our second NIBFA National League title this week.
