Glens host Swifts in Danske Bank Premiership

Fri, 18/01/2013 - 23:55

Following back to back Danske Bank Premiership defeats, Glentoran desperately need to bounce back with three points over Dungannon Swifts at The Oval tomorrow. It has been no secret of recent that there has been an injury crisis at The Oval with no central midfield players fit on Tuesday night. An inexperienced bench was fielded mostly of youth players and as Eddie Patterson has said in recent interviews, has led to inconsistency on the pitch.

There is better news ahead of Saturday's game as Jay Magee returns from injury however there are still a number of doubts over a number of other players who will most likely remain missing. Stuart Elliott will continue his comeback and may feature for The Seconds. Colin Nixon returned to the bench on Tuesday night and may play some part in the game.

Our visitors Dungannon Swifts are currently sitting 9th in the table, leading the pack of the 4 teams at the bottom of the table. The Swifts beat Lisburn Distillery in an important game in their last league fixture. Glentoran have recorded victory over Dungannon in both games so far this season with Andy Waterworth scoring in both games. The latter, Andy scored a late winner at The Oval to see Glentoran home with a 1-0 victory.

With today's weather conditions there of course is a chance that tomorrow's game will be postponed. Any additional information to whether the game will continue as scheduled will be provided as soon as possible on glentoran.com. As for now the game will go ahead and hopefully Glentoran can bounce back with three crucial points.
