Galway United Women 4-0 Glentoran Women

Sat, 20/04/2024 - 22:08

In a disappointing day all round, Glentoran Women suffered their second consecutive defeat in the group stage of the Avenir All Island Cup after travelling to Galway to meet the holders this afternoon.

The Glens were a goal down in 9 minutes through an unstoppable drive from Kate Thompson and despite a couple of decent efforts from Rachel Rogan and Demi Vance went into half time a goal down with everything to play for.

Things stayed level until the 80-minute mark but a 3-goal blitz in the final 10 minutes made the scoreline emphatic if a trifle flattering to Galway.

Glentoran’s final group game will be on Saturday 18th May when they travel to face Sligo Rovers (KO 7pm). Before that we face Cliftonville Strollers at Solitude next Friday (26 April) in the semi final of the NIFL Women’s Premiership League Cup (KO 7.45pm).
