The club is sad to hear of the untimely passing of former player Freddie Devine.
Freddie – a red haired centre forward – joined the club for the 1976-77 season and remained a first team squad member for 2 seasons. During that time he won an Ulster Cup medal and was a member of the great 1977 Championship squad managed by Bobby McGregor. Freddie was also a member of the Glens squad that travelled to Turin to play Juventus in the European Cup in October 1977 (back row fourth from left). On leaving Glentoran Freddie had a successful spell in a strong Larne side.
