Curtis is February's Top Man

Sun, 04/03/2018 - 19:30

Curtis Allen has become only the fourth player to win the Supporters' Player of the Month vote with his win in February.

In a month of extremes for Glentoran, Curtis scored no fewer than NINE goals in the seven matches played, taking his total for the season so far to nineteen. He started the month with all four goals in our Irish Cup win over Ballyclare Comrades, following up with goals against Ballinamallard United, Ards, the winner against Cliftonville and finally a double against Warrenpoint Town.

On being told of his award on Sunday, Curtis said "A massive thanks to everyone who voted for me. Its been a fantastic month for me personally and I'm over the moon to have scored nine goals in February. Hopefully I can score a lot more in March and over the rest of the season."

It was a striker's 1-2 this month as Curtis won 45% of the vote and his strike partner Robbie McDaid was runner-up with 33%. Robbie - with five goals himself in the month - can consider himself very unlucky to have come up against Curtis in such a rich vein of goalscoring form.

Previous winners in the inaugural season were John McGuigan in August, Calum Birney in December and Elliott Morris a four time winner in September, October, November and January.
