Club Appointment: Scott Martin

Thu, 30/11/2023 - 11:38

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Scott Martin to the new role of Head of Communications at the club.

In this role Scott has responsibility for development and delivery of the club’s social media strategy, growing our online presence and helping to improve the club’s visibility to a wider audience. Scott has been with the club as a volunteer for the past 18 months, heading up GlensTV.

He spoke of the new appointment: “Alongside the talent in our media team, I’m excited to help shape the way we share our stories, engage with supporters, and communicate news from our club. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to work for Glentoran and to be part of the support team aiming to bring success to The Oval.

Club Secretary and General Manager Jo McColgan said, “With his strategic mindset and innovative approach, we are confident that Scott will help elevate the Glentoran brand”.

Scott is a native of East Belfast, attending Harding Memorial Primary School in Cregagh and Grosvenor Grammar School. “Over 80 years ago my grandfather came to the Oval to watch Glentoran and write match reports. Media has changed a lot, but to be able to follow in his footsteps and communicate club news, albeit in different ways, means a lot to me.”

“I’m grateful to the Board for the trust they’ve placed in me and to our Director of Media Ian Clarke for his ongoing support and guidance. I look forward to working alongside Ian and the club media team in various capacities as part of my new role.”

Scott will be reaching out to supporters groups as the club’s social new media strategy takes shape, and looks forward to receiving suggestions and feedback from the Glentoran community.
