Did you ever dream of playing on FA Cup final day when you were a kid? Well, we could make your dream come true! Ok, it won't be at Wembley for Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea but you could be lining up to play on Saturday 17th May at the Oval v Glentoran Legends!! Kick off time to be confirmed
After the hugely successful last game in November when we put together (threw together more like) a team of fans to play their Glentoran heroes of yesteryear, we are going to do it all again. On that Night Billy Caskey scored a header to become the oldest Legend to score for the Legends (and i will never hear the end of it from him, Rab McCreery was patrolling the right Back slot as if he never left and as for Blackie, the less said the better (two goals past me in the first half, he's not on my Christmas card list)!!! Also turning out on that cold November night was Chris Morgan, Chris Walker, Johnny Jameson, John Devine and Gary Smyth to name a few. They are going to do it all again too!
We are looking 23 fans to participate in this event with the view to helping raise much needed funds for First Team equipment again. Yes we know it's the end of the season, but this will be the last "home" match of the 2013/14 season. This time, we will be looking 23 players but one of them will not be playing for the fans team. That lucky person will play a half for the Legends! On the day we will be putting all the players names into a hat or bucket and the Manager of the Glentoran Legends, Philip Stevenson, will randomly select a player from the bucket and that player will then play on the legends side on the day.
The price for the event will be the same as last time (£95.00) per person and you get to keep your jersey from the day. As before, this will be on a first come first served basis, so if you would like to play please email me on simonkitchen@me.com with your details. No slots will be confirmed until payment is made in full.
The match will be held before the FA Cup Final and then there will be a chance to share a drink with your heroes in the Premier Lounge afterwards to enjoy the other match on the day live from Wembley!!
We will also be looking for sponsors for the jerseys, so if you know of anyone interested in getting involved, please do not hesitate to contact me. Let's make an effort again to raise much needed funds for our club.
