Glentoran Academy hosted several young Dublin teams from the FAI Development programme this past weekend at Dundonald High School in what was a grand opening of our Academy’s new training facility in partnership with Dundonald High School.
Children from as young as 4 years old up to 13 years old took part in the event with entertaining challenge matches at each age group, including our u10 girls team. Also in attendance were a number of local clubs including Castle Juniors, Shankill Juniors and Lisburn Distillery.
The superb Dundonald High complex now boasts 2 x 11 a side pitches, 2 x 5 a side pitches, 4 x 7 a side pitches, 3 x 9 a side pitches, 6 x training/warm up areas, an 800m athletics track, fully refurbished modern changing facilities, 2 large indoor sports halls, and an outdoor fitness suite. The venue will act as a home base for the Academy throughout the summer and as home pitches for our National League teams next season.
Saturdays event catered for around 400 people on the day with food and drinks available creating a really enjoyable event for all the players and parents in attendance.
