Having once enjoyed an intense rivalry with Glentoran that saw the two teams regularly challenge each other in top of the table clashes and the later stages of cup competitions, it is somewhat surprising that the Ports have not won a league match at the Oval since December 2013. On that occasion, goals from strikers Gary Twigg and Darren Murray gave Ronnie McFall’s men a 2-0 victory that brought an end to an eight-game unbeaten run for the Glens.

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that Box It (Ireland) Ltd has extended and expanded its agreement as a key sponsor of the club.

For the next three seasons, Box It (Ireland) Ltd will sponsor all Glentoran social media activity and also GlensTV. The company also has its name on the back of all back of all shirts worn by both men’s and women’s teams at Glentoran.

Where do you start to tell this story? I suppose 6am at Nabneys (ok Keens) on the Albertbridge Road would do for starters . Well that’s where our merry ensemble met up before embarking on a two bus and one boat trek to Ardrossan in Scotland to help one of our own, Derek Cook, raise some much needed money in support of the children’s  charity Beautiful Inside and Out.

Wee Glens through in Intermediate Cup

Glentoran Seconds had a great win away to Banbridge Rangers on Sarturday to progress through the First Round of this season's McComb's Intermediate Cup.

 

Two goals each from first team squad members Aaron Wightman and captain Jordan Jenkins and one from young midfielder Rory McLaughlan gave the Wee Glens a comfortable 5-0 away win.

Clean Sweep for Glentoran Women

Goals in either half from Northern Ireland internationals Joely Andrews and Lauren Wade saw Glentoran Women secure a clean sweep of trophies for this season and a third consecutive Electric Ireland Women's Challenge Cup tonight at Windsor Park. That means this remarkable group of players have now won the last six trophies senior played for in Northern Ireland!

Don’t forget that Glentoran Women tonight have the opportunity to complete a League and Cup Double tonight, a domestic treble and their third successive win in this tournament when they face Crusaders Strikers in the Final of the Electric Ireland’s Women’s Challenge Cup at the National Stadium at Windsor Park (Kick Off 7.45pm).
