Glens Fans donate to suicide charity

PIPS Suicide Prevention Charity have said a massive thank you to everyone involved in a Ballymacarrett Glentoran Supporters Club fundraising night. It was a tremendous success with a total of £827 raised.

The evening was arranged by Glentoran fans Kylie King, Tori Hill and Dylan Gray (pictured above donating the cheque to Renee Quinn of PIPS).

Glentoran Women: Great wins in Scotland

It was a gvictorious trip for Glentoran Women’s Academy Under 19 and Under 17 squad when they travelled to Scotland last weekend.

The Under 19s had a great 5-1 win over Ayr United Women Reserves with goals coming from Rachel McIntyre (2), Mia Rowan (2) and Aimee Johnston.

The Under 17s went even better with a fantastic 7-0 win over Ayr United Women Under 17s. Goals in that game came from Mia McKeown, Mia Moore, Emma Gardner, Amy Majury, Francesca Costa and Mercedes Lundy.

Ahead of the latest league game Mick McDermott tells why he was disappointed with the midweek defeat by Coleraine but says there were a lot of good individual performances that he hopes to build on, while Bill Wray says Ballymena come into the match on a high after successive league and league cup wins.

Armistice Day Remembrance Service

A reminder to suppporters and local residents that this morning, Armistice Day, Thursday 11th November, the club will hold a Remembrance Ceremony at the Lance Sergeant Thomas Pearson Memorial Plaque at the Directors' Entrance in the Bet McLean Oval. The service will commence at 10.45am and will be conducted by Rev Brian Anderson, Superintendent of the East Belfast Mission on the Newtownards Road.

All supporters and local residents are welcome to attend and pay their respects at this poignant event.

Coleraine 2-0 Glentoran

A goal in each half took Coleraine into the semi-final of the Bet McLean League Cup tonight and extended Glentoran’s winless run at the Showgrounds to twelve games and five and a half years.

Mick McDermott was forced into a number of changes from Saturday’s home win over Warrenpoint. Ross Glendinning returned in goal for the suspended Aaron McCarey while Mal Smith started at right back for Rhys Marshall, rested due to still feeling the effects of the injury sustained at Carrick recently. Gael Bigirimana returned to midfield with Ben Cushnie returning to the bench for this one.
