Glentoran Women 1 - 0 Crusaders Strikers

Thu, 24/09/2020 - 21:48

Glentoran edged out Crusaders Strikers 1-0 at The Oval last night as Northern Ireland international Kerry Beattie scored the only goal of the game in the 64th minute.

The first half was a cagey affair of few chances, with Glentoran enjoying the lion’s share of possession but struggling to break down a resolute Crues defence.

Beattie finally broke the deadlock for the Glens almost midway through the second half as she got behind the visitor’s back line before calmly slotting home into the corner.

New full time deals for Moko and Elliott

Thu, 24/09/2020 - 01:03

More great news for Glentoran supporters, as both skipper Marcus Kane and former skipper Elliott Morris have signed new, full time contracts to remain with the club.

Marcus, now firmly established as captain and leader both in the changing room and the pitch, will have completed eleven years at the club by the end of this contract, having been signed  for Glentoran from Linfield by Eddie Patterson in July 2012. Already a Glentoran Great, his legendary status is rapidly approaching as he leads the team into what promises to be a great era in East Belfast.

Tony Christie

Wed, 23/09/2020 - 11:31

Glentoran FC reports with sadness the passing of lifelong Glenman Tony Christie.

Tony followed this team for over 60 years, attending every game he could and was a season ticket holder as recently as last season when his health took a serious turn for the worse. He took his sons Jonathan and Steven to games from a very early age and had he pleasure of seeing his grandson Nicholas catch the Glentoran bug and go on to okay for our 09 Academy team on the pitch.
