Champions Glentoran got the defence of their Danske Bank Women’s Premiership off to a winning start with a four-goal win over newly-promoted Lisburn at Ashfield.
Two goals in the opening ten minutes from Northern Ireland internationals Joely Andrews and Nadene Caldwell ensured Billy Clarke’s side were always going to be in control of the game.
Caldwell was the initial creator to set-up Andrews before she netted a fine solo goal.
The Glens and Larne played out a scoreless draw at the Bet McLean Oval this evening in the Danske Bank Premiership. It was a largely uneventful contest with decent chances far and few between. There was one controversial moment though just before halftime when John Herron struck Bobby Burns. The incident happened close to the linesman and 4th official but bizarrely only a yellow card was produced.
New boy Dillon Powers is our cover star for tonight's Gazette against Larne. Inside the USA born midfielder is interviewed by Matthew Brown, the 1923 Committee have a look at what's going on in the Championship promotion race, Henry Muldrew focuses on one of Elliott Morris's picks for his all time Glentoran XI, Philip Stevenson unearths a piece of Glentoran memorabilia which is over a century old and John Grayden reflects on the influx of foreign players to the Premiership. Plus the latest from the McClelland Files, we reflect on the ever changing kick off times this season, look forward

Glentoran Football Club would like to thank our Groundsman, William Kirkwood, who has left the club after seven years' service. William has been professional, diligent, dedicated and loyal servant to Glentoran and there have been many occasions during his tenure when the pitch was deemed playable solely due to his efforts. We look forward to seeing William back at the Bet McLean Oval as a supporter.
We are delighted to announce development of our Glentoran pathway for elite players in NI through the Glentoran Elite Scholarship Programme at Ashfield Boys' High School in Belfast.
