Glentoran Football Club was this week fined by the IFA for an incident of spectator misbehaviour at Solitude involving a smoke bomb. As was explained here last week football authorities in Northern Ireland are not only fining clubs but have made it clear that continued misbehaviour by supporters will ultimately lead to points deductions and playing behind closed doors.

Big move for Annie

Fri, 28/01/2022 - 23:11

Everyone at Glentoran wishes Annie Timoney all the very best for her move to Celtic. Annie has signed a full-time contract in Glasgow and will now be in direct opposition to her former Glentoran team mates Demi Vance (Rangers) and Kerry Beattie (Glasgow City).

Right back and Northern Ireland international Annie has won everything at least twice during her five years with Glentoran and was a virtual ever present and a major star in the past two seasons as the Glens completed their two consecutive clean sheets. She was also a star of our 2021 Champions League campaign.

Thu, 27/01/2022 - 20:14

Andrew Mitchell has ended a two-year spell at the Bet McLean Oval by joining Coleraine, initially on loan with a permanent transfer at the end of the season. Mitch joined the club from Glenavon in January 2020 in a double deal with Caolan Marron. Mitch made a total 35 appearances for the club, including both this season’s Europa Conference ties with The New Saints.

Mick McDermott said of Mitch: “We wish Andrew all the very best at his new Club. Andrew was one of our first signings at the beginning of our project and he has been a top professional since that time.
