Cliftonville Ladies 4 - 2 Glentoran Women

Wed, 19/05/2021 - 23:56

Glentoran Women suffered their first defeat of the season when Cliftonville Ladies overturned a 2-1 half time deficit to run out 4-2 winners at the finish and extend their lead at the top of the table to five points after four games.

Striker Kerry Beattie continued her fine goalscoring form with a sixth minute opener for the Glens before Casey Howe doubled the visitors lead four minutes later.

However, the league leaders hit back in emphatic style as their trio of Northern Ireland international summer signings all found the net.

Glentoran Player of the Year: Season Ticket holders to vote

Thu, 13/05/2021 - 01:00

As all Glentoran supporters will know, the Castlereagh Glentoran Supporters Club has conducted the independent poll for Glentoran Player of the Year since the 1957/1958 season.

For obvious reasons it is impossible to conduct the normal supporter poll at the penultimate home league match of this season. Therefore the Castlereagh GSC and the parent club have agreed that all 2020/2021 season ticket holders will be able to vote remotely to decide this season’s winner.

All season ticket holders will receive an email over the next couple of days

Linfield Ladies 1-1 Glentoran Women

Wed, 12/05/2021 - 22:27

A second half equaliser from Northern Ireland international Sam Kelly maintained the Glens' unbeaten start to their title defence at Midgeley Park this evening.

The Big Two went toe-to-toe in a superb end-to-end encounter with both sides creating plenty of chances to win, but ultimately the spoils were shared.

Skipper Jessica Foy fired over for the Glens in the 25th minute but it was the Blues who took the lead when Rebecca Bassett finished in style after Rebecca McKenna created the opening.

Glentoran's Irish Cup defence is over after a 1-nil defeat at the Oval tonight. The Glens went with the same XI that started last Saturday's win over Cliftonville but tonight they just couldn't get that vital breakthrough and exited the competition.

On Sunday last, four members of the Dundonald Glentoran Supporters Club took part in Glentoran's  sponsored walk in support of the 10K by May campaign run by Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid. The lads from Dundonals were proud to play their part in raising both money and awareness of the impact of domestic abuse on women and their children, as well as to raise awareness of the important work done by the team at Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid.

Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

Sat, 08/05/2021 - 20:06

A second half goal from Rory Donnelly was enough to see the Glens progress to the quarter-final of the Irish Cup.

With Marcus Kane out injured, Paddy McClean retained the captain's armband for this game with Mick McDermott sticking to the same back four that played against Coleraine. Dale Gorman and Jamie McDonagh started in place of Andrew Mitchell and the injured Robbie McDaid.

Before kick-off, a minutes silece was observed as a mark of respect to former Glentoran Chairman, John Parkinson, who sadly passed away earlier this week.
