Glens back anti-online bullying campaign

Fri, 30/04/2021 - 15:00

Glentoran Football Club  is joining forces with NIFL, the IFA and sporting bodies and clubs across the United Kingdom in boycotting social media this weekend, to raise awareness of ongoing online abuse directed towards players and officials.

The boycott begins on Friday at 3pm, running right through until Monday 3rd May at 23.59.

Unfortunately this means that we won’t be able to bring you out normal social media updates on what is a massive Saturday of football, but we will still be streaming the “Big Two” match on Saturday live through GlensTV and 247.media.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Hamilton Moore, father of our former captain, Terry.

Milton Moore (circled)

Hamilton, or Milton as he was known to everyone was also a footballer at Glentoran, playing in the same youth team as Danny Blanchflower, Billy Neill, Jimmy McIlroy and Billy Bingham.

Happy Birthday Tom

Fri, 30/04/2021 - 10:38

Everyone at Glentoran FC wishes Tom Ferrett a very happy 101st birthday.

Tom's father George played in the first Glentoran side to win the Irish Cup and then travelled to the continent to bring the Vienna Cup back to the Oval.

To mark Tom's 101st birthday, the management and squad signed a birthday card for him following one of this week's training sessions.

Match Preview: Glentoran v Linfield

Saturday 1st May 2021

Kick Off 3.00pm

For the first time in a decade the Big Two meet as the league’s Top Two at this stage of the season, in a match that would unquestionably have led to a full and very noisy Oval. As with each game in recent weeks, this is another 6-pointer with the Glens needing to eat further into what is currently a 7-point lead for the Blues at the top of the table.
