Contract News: New deal for Our Willie

Mon, 14/06/2021 - 21:27

The club is pleased to announce that the recovering Willie Garrett has signed a new, one year contract to remain at Glentoran.

It has been well documented in the past that lifelong Glenman Willie was the first player to graduate the whole way through the Glentoran Academy into the first team. Although still only 29, Willie joined the Glens Academy in August 2007, so he incredibly now enters his FIFTEENTH season at the club.

Obituary: Mervyn Bell

Sun, 13/06/2021 - 00:43

The Directors and Management of Glentoran would like to pay respects and offer condolences to the family of Mervyn Bell, who sadly died yesterday.

Mervyn's name is synonymous with our East Belfast neighbours, having spent an incredible 40 years at the club as both player and manager. In his long period at the helm the Duns won no fewer than  27 trophies in 33 years, including nine league titles. He is so revered at Wilgar Park that the newly constructed main stand there was named after him in November 2020 (see photo above).
