Glentoran Football Club in association with our kit and training apparel manufacturers Kukri were this week delighted to welcome Glentoran supporter Craig Gamble to Kukri Ireland’s HQ in Lisburn to press the start button on the production of our iconic 130th anniversary shirt.

Glens Academy host Man Utd

Glentoran Academy hosted the Manchester United Academy on October 3rd at the Oval. This was a night in which a mixture of our U15 & U16 squads had the chance to test themselves against one of the best club academies in the world.

After a good start, Glentoran then found themselves pegged back and defending deep, the Manchester United attackers always on the move and probing at the Glens back four, but they held firm along with two brilliant saves from Morrow.

Glentoran v Crusaders- Preview

After the disappointment of our first domestic defeat of the season at the hands of our biggest rivals Linfield on Monday night, Glentoran look to bounce back with three points at Seaview in a tough fixture against Crusaders. Having drawn our last league game against Ballymena Utd at the Showgrounds last Friday night, The Glens lie third, three points off the pace set by Cliftonville and Coleraine. 

Supporter information for Saturday's fixture

The PSNI have provided the following information for fans travelling to Seaview on Saturday.

 

1. Glentoran Fans travelling by private car to Seaview on Saturday 6th October 2012 are requested to consider local resident and emergency vehicle access when deciding where and how to park in the Shore Road area.

2. Glentoran fans travelling by coach are requested to approach Seaview from the Fortwilliam Roundabout direction in order to drop off and pick up. This is to maximise pedestrian safety and minimise traffic issues.

Ryan Newberry suspended

At an IFA disciplinary hearing this evening, Glentoran midfielder Ryan Newberry was banned from football until 31st May 2013. Ryan had been charged with bringing the game into disrepute following an incident at the 'Regions Cup' tournament in Macedonia.

At the close of the disciplinary hearing Glentoran FC signalled their intention to appeal the ban.

Waterworth picks up monthly award.

Striker Andy Waterworth has been named 'Player of the Month' for September by the Northern Ireland Football Writers. Waterworth has found the back of the opposition's net on 8 occasions so far this term with 6 of those goals coming in September; 1 v Linfield, 1 v Ballimamallard Utd, 2 v Dungannon swifts and 2 v Lisburn Distillery. 

Glens Women parade trophies at the Oval

Prior to Monday night's Co Antrim Shield fixture at the Oval members of the successful Glentoran Women's teams showed off their silverware after yet another successful season. 

Kelly Bailie, who has won 50 caps for Northern Ireland,  Lyndsey Corry (captain of Glentoran/BU 1sts) and Eva McCloskey (captain of Glentoran/BU Reserves) displayed the IFA Women's' Cup, the NIWFA Premier League Cup and NIWFA Reserve Cup to the appreciative home support.  

David Mills 1965 - 2012

All at Glentoran Football Club were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of former player, David Mills at the weekend. David made his debut during the 1984-85 season and went on to make 24 appearances for the club. He scored his only goal for the club as Glentoran defeated Crusaders 2-1 in the final of the Co. Antrim Shield on 17th May 1985. Following his time at the Oval, David moved to Portadown and then Lisburn Distillery.
