Supporter Information for Saturday 19th Sept.

Entry to this game is restricted to HOME supporters ONLY who are in possession of a 2020-21 Glentoran Season Ticket, purchased on or before 17th September 2020.

NO other supporters will be admitted. 

The admission price is £5 for all categories and we would strongly request that where possible, supporters pay by credit or debit card in the interests of hygiene and public safety. If that is not possible, please ensure to  present the correct money to the turnstile operators.

Glentoran 3-1 Portadown

Glentoran continued a series of pre season friendlies with a comfortable  3-1 win over Portadown at the Oval on Tuesday night. A first half penalty from the outstanding Paul O'Neill, and goals after the break from Andrew Mitchell (his second in consecutive matches) and Mal Smith (playing in midfield) helped the Glens renew an old rivalry in a successful manner. In a game where no quarter was asked or given, star men Robbie McDaid and Paddy McClean both left with injuries in the first .

The Coaching Staff and Directors of Glentoran are fully aware that speculation surrounding this signing in the past week has caused debate within our supporter base. The club is fully aware of the issues in Jay’s past and would like to clarify the situation.

Glentoran Stadium Safety Officer, Roger Clarke, has asked www.glentoran.com to convey his personal thanks to those Glentoran supporters who attended last night's home match with Portadown, for their impeccable behaviour and cooperation with stewards throughout the evening. This was our first match with supporters present and Roger and the club isdelighted with the positive response to requests for adherence to covid regulations.

Tuesday night's pre-season friendly game against Portadown (kick off 7.30pm) at the Oval will be the first game played at our East Belfast venue since March.

Due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions imposed by the UK Government, the local Assembly and Belfast City Council we have had to take significant steps prior to the return of supporters.

We would ask that all those attending the game would read carefully the points below and adhere to them in order to provide a safe environment for everyone present.

Three more years for Paddy

The club is delighted to announce that Patrick McClean has signed a new 3-year contract with Glentoran.

Paddy, who joined the club in July 2019 from Derry City, has become a major favourite with the support and was voted Man of the Match in our recent Irish Cup Final win over Ballymena United.

Mick McDermott said today of Paddy's new contract: "Paddy has been outstanding since he joined our Club, both on and off the pitch.  He has proven his ability week in and week out and has shown maturity beyond his years.

Glentoran 6-2 Bangor

Glentoran commenced an intense series of pre season friendlies today at the Oval. Goals from Paul O'Neill, Dale Gorman (on his debut), Robbie McDaid, Andrew Mitchell, Cameron Stewart and Rory Donnelly gave the Glens a 6-2 win over Bangor in a match when most of the first team squad had a useful run out.

Next home hame is at the Oval on Tuesday night at 7.30pm. Newly promoted Portadown will provide the opposition rather than Ards, as originally published.
