Three more years for Paddy

The club is delighted to announce that Patrick McClean has signed a new 3-year contract with Glentoran.

Paddy, who joined the club in July 2019 from Derry City, has become a major favourite with the support and was voted Man of the Match in our recent Irish Cup Final win over Ballymena United.

Mick McDermott said today of Paddy's new contract: "Paddy has been outstanding since he joined our Club, both on and off the pitch.  He has proven his ability week in and week out and has shown maturity beyond his years.

Glentoran 6-2 Bangor

Glentoran commenced an intense series of pre season friendlies today at the Oval. Goals from Paul O'Neill, Dale Gorman (on his debut), Robbie McDaid, Andrew Mitchell, Cameron Stewart and Rory Donnelly gave the Glens a 6-2 win over Bangor in a match when most of the first team squad had a useful run out.

Next home hame is at the Oval on Tuesday night at 7.30pm. Newly promoted Portadown will provide the opposition rather than Ards, as originally published.

Sion Swifts 4-3 Glentoran Women

A lively game at the Melvin Sports Complex in Strabane on Wednesday evening saw Glentoran Women drop their first league points of the season following a 4-3 defeat to Sion Swifts. Sion looked strong in the early stages of the game with good possession and took the lead on ten minutes with a neat finish from Erin Fildara following a well measured pass from Caoimhe Walsh. On 19 minutes the Glens got themselves back into the game with a Jess Foy penalty after Caragh Hamilton was brought down in the area.

Given Social Distancing regulations we are limited in the number of spectators who are allowed to attend games at the Oval.

NO spectators will be permitted to attend the friendly vs Bangor FC this Saturday (12th September).

For the following two games (vs Ards on Tuesday 15th September and H&W Welders on Saturday 19th September) 

ONLY SEASON TICKETS PURCHASED ON OR BEFORE SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER ARE ELIGIBLE.

Pre Season Friendlies Announced

The club has arranged the following pre season friendlies at the Oval.

The intention of the club is to work in the interests of public health and in accordance with Belfast City Council guidelines. Therefore, for the first match to which spectators will be permitted entrance (v Ards on Tuesday 15 September), only season ticket holders will be able to attend the game. It is the club’s hope that over time, it will be possible to gradually increase attendances ahead of the start of the season in October.

Ticket refund update

Please note this update on ticket refunds for the now voided home Danske Bank Premiership match v Linfield, originally scheduled for 20th March at the Oval.

Apologies for any delay so far. As explained in the previous update, this was because the club was fully occupied with preparation for the Europa League ties with HB Torshavn and Motherwell.

Now that we have received all preferences from ticket holders, all requests can now be actioned as follows:

Glentoran Women 2 v 0 Linfield Ladies

A fourth minute opener from the returning Caragh Hamilton, and one on the hour from Kerry Beattie gave Glentoran a 2-0 home win over outgoing champions Linfield on Wednesday night.

The Glens are now three points clear at the top of the table and are now the only team with a 100% r3ecord, having scored five goals and conceded none so far.
