Glentoran got their Danske Bank Premiership campaign off to a winning start. Goals from Robbie McDaid, Conor McMenamin and Rory Donnelly earning us all 3 points at Stangmore Park.
Glentoran Seconds made a great start to their league season at the Oval today, with a convincing win over the Swifts.
Following last week’s success in the Steel & Sons Cup, the Wee Glens were bursting to go again and get their league campaign off to a winning start. To play at the Oval, with the sun shining, just added to the occasion and the excitement.
Our women went into Friday’s semi-final against Cliftonville Ladies determined to secure yet another place in the final of the Electric Ireland Challenge Cup, a competition we have dominated in recent seasons with consecutive showpiece victories over Linfield Ladies. Spurred on by great support, they did not disappoint.

Following impressive performances against two full time outfits in Finland in the qualifying round of the Women’s Champions League, Glentoran Women returned in buoyant mood to domestic action on Wednesday with a home league fixture against a rapidly improving Sion Swifts side. As usual, the Glens started on the front foot taking the game to their opponents with crisp passing and fluid transitions in the opening minutes. Early confidence on the ball saw the home side force a corner from which Bailie headed narrowly over in the sixth minute.
Paul McLean, managing director of Bet McLean, Northern Ireland’s largest independent bookmaking company today announced a major new sponsorship agreement with Glentoran FC which involves the re-naming of our historic stadium as the BetMcLean Oval.
The agreement, worth £250,000 over the next five years with a five year option, is believed to be the biggest sponsorship deal ever reached with a football club in Northern Ireland.
