Glens Dream Teams: Under 21 Internationals

Sat, 06/06/2020 - 03:08

Glentoran Gazette contributor and former editor, John Grayden, first saw the Glens play in May, 1959. In this new series he picks imaginary sides from throughout the years in a random selection of categories. A few are factual while most are subjective and by no means definitive. While he has seen the majority of players in action, a few from other eras are included because of their contributions to the club’s history.

Charlie signs for Rangers

Fri, 05/06/2020 - 14:13

Glentoran’s 16-year old prodigy Charlie Lindsay today completed his dream move to one of the world’s greatest clubs when he signed professional forms for Rangers.

East Belfast boy Charlie has been a star in the making since joining the club. He made his debut for the Under 20s when just fourteen, and earlier this season he became Glentoran’s youngest ever first team player when he played against Ballyclare Comrades at the Oval.

Legend's XI : Johnny Jameson (part one)

Thu, 04/06/2020 - 01:10

We have broken the rules for this one. Johnny Jameson showed me his list and he nearly gave up because of the number of great players he played with. He couldn’t settle on eleven. No surprise for someone who played 498 times for the Glens (our ninth highest appearance maker in the club’s history) and scored 123 times from the right wing, between joining for £10,000 for Linfield in September 1980 and his enforced retirement through injury in September 1993.
