Happy Birthday Jim Hanna

Wed, 17/06/2020 - 00:31

Happy 89th birthday today (17th June) to lifelong Glenman Jim Hanna.

Jim has been active in the running of the Hillfoot Glentoran Supporters Club for over 50 years - and still is. Jimmy still religiously follows the Glens home and away, and as a Glentoran Vice President can be seen in his scarf in the Directors' Box at every home match.

Glens Dream Teams: The Managers

Sun, 14/06/2020 - 02:20

Glentoran Gazette contributor and former editor, John Grayden, first saw the Glens play in May, 1959. In this series he picks imaginary sides from throughout the years in a random selection of categories. A few are factual while most are subjective and by no means definitive. While he has seen the majority of the players in action, some from other eras are included because of their contribution to the club’s history.

This is the third in a series of interviews with former Glentoran players and managers where they talk about a photograph that means a lot to them. Some will be reproduced from a series written by Brian McClelland for the Glentoran Gazette in the mid-1990s with other, newer stories we will be writing over the next few weeks. This one was published in the Gazette in the 1994/95 season, when Brian met midfielder Andy Mathieson.

Fri, 12/06/2020 - 15:29

Glentoran’s preparations for an eventual return to normal activity took a positive step forward this week with the installation of a CovidGuard machine in the Players’ Entrance at the Oval.

This machine automatically gauges the temperature of anyone seeking entry to the changing room and tunnel area, and either approves or refuses admission based on the temperature of the individual.  It also has a built-in dispenser of handwash.
