Contract News: Extension for Ciaran

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that midfielder Ciaran O'Connor has signed a 2-year extension to his contract and will remain with the club at least until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Ciaran signed for the club in January 2020 after a spell with Warrenpoint Town and has made 35 appearances for the club. We know the Glentoran support wiill be delighted to see Ciaran commit his future to the club.

Glentoran welcomes Ross Glendinning

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce the beginning of this summer’s recruitment with the signing of goalkeeper Ross Glendinning from Ballymena United.

Ross (28) is the son of legendary Glentoran full back Mark Glendinning, who made 185 appearances for the club during the Roy Coyle era, scoring 26 goals. Ross was at Glentoran briefly as a young teenager before seven years with Linfield and the past five at the Showgrounds where he made 158 first team appearances. He has been capped for Northern Ireland ant U16, U18 and U21 level.

A Kerry Beattie quadruple ensured that Glentoran Women maintained their challenge at the top end of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership with a deserved 4-1 victory over Sion Swifts in a fast-paced and at times feisty encounter at the Ashfield Arena on Wednesday evening.

Luke is Glens Player of the Year

Luke McCullough has been voted Glentoran Player of the Year 2020-2021.

Luke was a clear winner of this year's supporter vote with Jay Donnelly runner up and Paddy McClean in third place.  He was presented with his award before Saturday's Final game of the season by McIlhagger and Richard McIlhagger members of Castlereagh GSC (photo above). The Castlereagh has run this prestigious award for many decades.

Glentoran 2-0 Crusaders

A much changed Glentoran starting XI enjoyed a comfortable win against Crusaders today in our final game in the 2020-21 Danske Bank Premiership.

Skipper, Marcus Kane was the only player who started against Larne last Tuesday evening who was selected for today's game with manager, Mick McDermott opting to give others, including some of our younger prospects, an outing.

Following our achievement of securing European qualification with a match to spare, we end our season tomorrow we end our season with the visit of Crusaders to the Oval.

Matches at the Oval this season have seen a 1-0 win for each side - the Glens winning the last league encounter thanks to Jay Donnelly's spectacular injury time lob over goalkeeper Sean O'Neill and Crusaders winning the Irish Cup Quarter Final 2 weeks ago via Billy Joe Burns' first half header from a corner.

Derry City 2-8 Glentoran Women

Champions Glentoran bounced back from last week's defeat with a comprehensive 8-2 victory over Derry City at the Ryan McBride Brandywell stadium this evening.

Glentoran Women secured their first league victory in three attempts with an emphatic 8-2 triumph at Derry City Women as Rachel Rogan grabbed the headlines with a hat-trick.

Rogan netted a treble for the Glens while Joely Andrews, Kerry Beattie, Kelly Bailie, Alison McMaster and Lauren Wade were all on target for Billy Clarke’s side.
