Rhys Marshall has become the only the second player to be voted Glentoran Player of the Month in 2021-2022 by winning the January vote.
Rhys played every minute of our league wins over Cliftonville, Crusaders, Coleraine and Warrenpoint Town, and our Samuel Gelston’s Whiskey Irish Cup victory at Dergview. He won 49% of the supporter vote.
Rhys said of his award: “I would like to thank everyone for the votes and the recognition over the last month. The fans have been brilliant and really pushed us on in what has been a really tough month with massive games and thankfully we have come out of it with four great results along with a win in the Irish cup. Everyone has worked extremely hard to get us into the position we are in, and I truly believe any of the team could have picked up player of the month.
We will try and continue our good form into next month and that starts on Saturday when our attention turns to the Irish cup and what will be another hard battle with Queens.”
This was a particularly tough month to win this award due to the excellent form of so many of our players as the Glens climbed to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership for the first time this season. Runner up was Robbie McDaid with Caolan Marron third in the supporters' vote.
