Glentoran Remembers - Remembrance Day Marked Today

Sat, 06/11/2021 - 00:26

As today's match is the last home game before Armistice Day, the club will hold a display of remembrance to honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedom of others.

At 2.50pm, the Club Chaplain, Rev. David Thompson will lead us in an in a short act of remembrance on the pitch.

During this time, Glentoran Chairman Stephen Henderson and Club Captain Marcus Kane will lay a wreath in the centre circle on behalf of the club and the Glentoran Family. Following this, Rev Thompson will introduce one minute’s silence with the familiar words of the exhortation.

On Armistice Day, Thursday 11th November, the club will hold a Remembrance Ceremony at the Lance Sergeant Thomas Pearson Memorial Plaque at the Directors' Entrance in the Bet McLean Oval. The service will commence at 10.45am and will be conducted by Rev Brian Anderson, Superintendent of the East Belfast Mission on the Newtownards Road. Supporters are welcome to attend and pay their respects at this poignant event.
