Contract News: Bigi commits to Glentoran

Fri, 02/07/2021 - 13:50

Following on from yesterday’s news about Mal Smith, the club is now also delighted to announce that Gael Bigirimana has agreed to remain with Glentoran for at least another season.

The experienced Bigi (27) joined Glentoran last summer, making a winning debut in our Europa League tie with HB Torshavn at the Oval. He made 38 first team appearances in his first season (plus several senior international appearances for his native Burundi) and has quickly established himself as a key man in Mick McDermott’s plans

Bigi said to www.glentoran.com on signing his contract: " First of all would like to give thanks to my God and my saviour for His Grace to me and my family. And blessing me with this opportunity to be at Glentoran for another season. I am excited and looking forward to what lays ahead for me at this club. Now it’s time for action and time to enjoy the journey with this community at Glentoran. I am Here to serve not to be served.

Mick McDermott: “Bigi was an integral part of our team last season and became more influential as the season progressed.  His quality was evident throughout the season, and we look forward to the day when Glentoran fans, standing or sitting in the Oval, can directly witness those qualities at first hand.

He had offers from clubs in numerous countries this past few weeks and we are delighted he has committed his future to us.

A top professional and a top person!!”

Good luck for the season ahead Bigi.
