First Pro Contract for Lorcan

The club is delighted to formally announce that our young goalkeeper Lorcan Donnelly has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Lorcan (16) – regular keeper with the Glens Under 20s – joined the club from Cliftonville. He played international for Northern Ireland Under 16s and has now been promoted to the U17s for the forthcoming away match in Finland.

Player of the Month: Aidan's great start is recognised

Aidan Wilson has celebrated his first month at the Bet McLean Oval by winning the vote for the season’s first Glentoran Player Of The Month.

Ex-Rangers player Aidan was a very popular winner with an overwhelming 75% of the supporters vote. In our undefeated August he played every minute, proved a great addition to the central defence, and scored a great header in the 3-1 home win against his old club, Crusaders.

It took Glentoran 67 minutes to finally make the breakthrough at the Bet McLean Oval this afternoon; Bobby Burns netting his first goal for the club. Alistair Roy also scored his first for the Glens just a couple of minutes later and then a late header from Paddy McClean found the bottom corner to make it 3-nil to the home side.

Having started their first season back in the Premiership (after a 3-season absence) with three successive defeats, Newry City gained their first points of the season in fine style on Tuesday evening: routing Glenavon 5-1 at Mourneview Park.

Transfer News: Terry Devlin Signs

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Terry Devlin from Dungannon Swifts.

Terry (18) is a midfielder who made the breakthrough at Stangmore Park last season and quickly established himself as a key player following the transfer of Oisin Smyth to Oxford United in January. He did so well that he was called up in the summer to Northern Ireland’s senior training squad along with our own Conor McMenamin.

Glens Girls are just champion

Congratulations to Glentoran Women Reserves who beat Linfield Ladies Swifts to the Electric Ireland Women’s Academy League title with an emphatic 6-1 victory in South Belfast.

Our U19s went to Midgley needing a win to win the league as they entered the game three points behind league leaders Linfield U19s. who needed only a draw at home to secure the title.

For the second time in four days Glentoran headed down the M1 and just like Tuesday evening, returned East with the 3 points. A win which sees us got top of the early Danske Bank Premiership table. Tonight's win though was much more straightforward than the game at Stangmore Park.
