It was a day when Glentoran fans, past players and former managers gathered to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the club but on the field it turned out to be an extremely disappointing afternoon as a late penalty saw Portadown snatch all 3 points.
At around 7 minutes past 8 on Tuesday 9th October 2012, Stuart Elliott scored his 52nd goal for Glentoran FC to put us in front at Institute in the Irn Bru League Cup. Stuart's 51st was way back on 29th April 2000. That Saturday afternoon it was the Glens first in a 3-nil league win against Cliftonville at the Oval, the other scorers being Rory Hamill and Sean Armstrong.
That's 4,546 days later, or 12 years, 5 months and 10 days. Hopefully the next one will come around a bit quicker!
Northern Ireland's best matchday programme has been getting plenty of rave reviews again this season and tomorrow we've an extra special edition to mark Glentoran's 130th anniversary.
With the club celebrating it's 130th birthday before kick off with a special presentation of some of our most iconic legends, this will hopefully inspire Glentoran's current crop into a memorable performance against Portadown in the Danske Bank Premiership at 3pm tomorrow afternoon. After suffering our first league defeat of the campaign last weekend at Seaview, it is vitally important we bounce back with a positive result in this game.
Tomorrow is a momentous day in the history of Glentoran FC.
This week commemorates Glentoran Football Club's 130th birthday and to mark the occasion, tomorrow's match at The Oval against Portadown will feature a special presentation from 2.40pm of many of our past greats.
Big game this Saturday at the Oval when we welcome Portadown to East Belfast for the first time this season. Time to get back in track!
We celebrate our 130 anniversary this week and hopefully all Glenmen/women come out in strength to support the club this weekend.

With Jason Hill, Jimmy Callacher and Andrew Waterworth all missing through injury it was a much changed Glentoran side which took the field at Drumahoe to face Institute in the Irn-Bru League Cup.
