Glentoran v Dungannon Swifts- Preview

Fri, 09/11/2012 - 17:26

On the back of Monday night's disappointing exit from the Irn-Bru Cup, Glentoran are looking to bounce back with three points in the league this Saturday against Dungannon Swifts at The Oval. The Glens have worryingly slipped out of the top half of the Danske Bank Premiership into 7th after the 1-1 draw with league leaders Cliftonville last weekend. This slip also saw arch-rivals Linfield overtake us for the first time this season. Dungannon are the visitors this weekend as we look to respond to the recent slump in form with victory tomorrow.

The Board of Directors have confirmed the arrangements planned for this year's Act of Remembrance to be held on Saturday at our home game with Dungannon Swifts.

In conjunction with the Glentoran Community Trust and as a development of the permanent memorial to our former goalkeeper Thomas Pearson, who was killed in action in North Africa in 1942, his full citation will be permanently displayed at the Directors entrance. The unveiling of this, coupled with the laying of two wreaths, one by a director and the other by a supporter will take place at this spot at 2.30pm.

Glens out of Irn-Bru Cup

Tue, 06/11/2012 - 00:22

A disappointing night at Mourneview Park has seen Glentoran exit the Irn-Bru Cup at the hands of Glenavon at Mourneview Park. The Glens named an unchanged side from that which performed well on Saturday and things seemingly got off to a decent start tonight as well with a quick tempo about our play. The first real opportunity of the game fell to Andy Waterworth as he used his pace to break clear of the Glenavon defence only for his powerful shot to be straight at Glenavon goalkeeper Andrew Coleman.

Glentoran v Glenavon- Preview

Mon, 05/11/2012 - 16:11

Just two days after a gruelling league encouter with Cliftonville at The Oval, The Glens are back in action tonight against Glenavon in the Quarter Final of the Irn-Bru Cup at Mourneview Park. Throughout the competition, Glentoran have fielded a relatively strong side showing how this season we want to take each competition seriously as we search for success in the form of silverware.

Colin Nixon has resumed training and played for the seconds alongside Calum Birney at the weekend however Monday's game may still come a week too soon for both players.
